Real estate consultants & builder should use internet & social media
Real estate builders should use internet in such a way that they portray higher transparency & professionalism. As a thumb rule Brand Building on the web is about :
- Dialogue: Let people(consultants, buyers, partners) express themselves more openly and talk to them
- Making customer part of the progress: Keeping customers informed about finer details of the product/service and make them part of the progress.
- Being transparent: Don’t hide, tell them everything they should know even if it’s bad news (e.g. lack of funds, legal issues etc). Everybody admire honesty and it always pays long term dividends.
- Connecting customers to each other: They can talk to each other and take collective decisions. If you are good, it will always go in your favour.
- Using all kind of media tools on the web like video, images, digital characters
Tools for achieving this:
Blog:
- Blog for every under-construction building: Monthly or weekly posting monitoring regular progress of the construction, challenges faced, material used, labour care, no human rights violations, no environment hazards etc. This will ensure your existing customers are well informed and future customers will get impressed with transparency maintained. Blog can be supported by Videos & Images.
- Blog for developments happening around a under construction building: Value of Residential/commercial constructions depends on ecology around it. A blog, constantly talking about the happenings around a construction and how all this development will impact living/business, can add great value to your property. If a builder can inspire to existing customer to contribute to this blog, it can turn out to be a great customer satisfaction tool. Further it can be shown to new customers and close sales.
Our Solution: We as a company can not only create technology solution(read Blog) but also can do weekly/monthly reporting with content, images videos & interviews We can gather geographical intelligence and do such postings for a property.
Online community:
Create an online community were the people who have registered for a project can connect with each other, helping them know each other well before moving in . New buyers can also get required information from the community member. The Community will help you in knowing about your customers requirements, expectations etc.
Our solution: Secure & private online community will be created, it will have all the features of huge social networks like Orkut/Facebook.
Innovative marketing campaigns: Friendship & referral methods have become so easy on the web that if you are running an innovative campaign you can reach to global audience in a very quick time & in very little money.
e.g “House to Home” competition-: Here couples would be invited to write on what all they can do to make the house (they are going to buy) a home. Then they will ask their friends & family around the world to vote. Top three people with most number of votes will get some prize money.
Our company is well equipped to create such kind of campaigns which will help companies spread the word in a very efficient manner.
Other Tools:
- Micro site for every apartment comprising features like discussion forum, community, content submission by users etc
- Using Youtube, Orkut, Facebook, Flicker and other media sharing sites for showcasing your property
- Innovative use of Google map so that buyers get a holistic view about the property.
- Online chat

I completely agree with this. I bought a house last year and its almost in completion phase. But since I paid for the same and today’s date, there has been very little or you can say negligible interaction with the builder. We (the people who bought a house in that apartment) formed a Google Group where we can get updates about the progress from locals.
The builder is not interacting with the customers on a regular basis at all. Though am lucky that I bought it from one of the trusted builders in that city but then, as a customer I think that the ‘customer satisfaction’ will multiply 100 times if the builder starts a dialog with his customers!!!

Now the challenge for us to connect with builders and convince them to have a blog for every property which will bring more than certain amount of money. My company can even do reporting and blog writing for them. Blog with buyer registration & community concept can be a great solution. We started connecting with builders lets see how it goes
